Jimmy Hay to Receive ASBO's

2020 Pinnacle of Excellence Award

Jimmy Hay, Director of Finance and Board Clerk for Paola USD 368 and KASBO Immediate Past President, has been named as the 2020 recipient of ASBO's Pinnacle of Excellence Award, sponsored by Virco, Inc. This is one of the two top service awards presented annually by ASBO.

The award honors Jimmy's foresight in founding the S.O.S. Serving Our Students program in 2017. The SOS program is a community event held annually to help equip students in Paola USD 368 with items necessary to help them have a successful start to the school year.

Jimmy is also very active in other school and community organizations: Treasurer of the Paola USD 368 Endowment Association, Panther Friend Mentor, Vice Chair of the Miami County United Way, Lighthouse Church Treasurer, First Option Bank Baehr Foundation Trustee, Paola Rotary Club member, and Tri-Ko, Inc. Board of Directors.

Jimmy graduated cum laude from Pittsburg State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He and his wife Christi are the proud parents of four children, who all attend school in Paola USD 368.

This scholarship, is presented in memory of Karen Schadel who served as KASBO's Executive Director for many years.

Sarah, who is the Director of Finance, will receive $2,500 to attend the ASBO Annual Meeting and Exhibits in Nashville this fall.

Dana Gosch

Dana is the daughter of Rayne Gosch, who is the Board Clerk for Lakin USD 215. She will receive $1,000 to help with her higher education expenses.

2020 KASBO Annual Convention and Expo

Re-Scheduled

New Registration/Cancellation Information for

All Members and Vendors

The KASBO Board of Directors has cancelled the 2020 KASBO Annual Convention and Expo originally scheduled for April 22-24. This complete cancellation also includes: Vendor Expo, Vendor Party, Bowling and Golf Tournaments, and KASBO Academy.

The convention and its related events have been re-scheduled for November 11-13 at the same location - The Hilton Garden Inn in Manhattan, Kansas.

All registered members and vendors please carefully read the information below.

We have discovered that our website management application will allow registration information to be applied to the November convention. Therefore, all convention and related event registrations will be retained and members and vendors are not required to re-register for the November convention, beginning August 1.

Registrants have two choices regarding registration payments that have been made.

1. Payments may be retained by KASBO and applied to your registration for the November convention. If this is your choice, you do not need to do anything at this time. 

2. Payments may be refunded. If this is your choice, please send an email to <rbalsters@cox.netwith your invoice number(s) and a note requesting that your payment(s) be refunded. (Note: we will cancel your registration and may retain $25 to renew any expiring KASBO memberships - unless instructed otherwise). 

Hotel Reservations - Please cancel your hotel reservations for April. New reservation websites for the November convention will be open after August 1.

The KASBO Board of Directors would like to thank all of our loyal members and vendor partners for their understanding and support.

Dale Dennis Receives the 2019 Kansan of the Year

The Native Sons and Daughters of Kansas presented Dale Dennis with its 2019 Kansan of the Year award at its annual banquet in Topeka on January 24.

KASBO was represented by Rob Balsters, Executive Director, and Eric Hansen, President, shown below with Dale.
