The KASBO Academy has been formed by the KASBO Board of Directors to offer training to Kansas school business officials that will lead to certification as a KASBO School Business Official.
We envision a program of training that covers basic information and competencies required of Kansas business officials.
On Friday, December 12, we are offering School District Purchasing and Ethics at a cost of $150, which includes 6 hours of instruction and lunch. Please see the course information below:
School District Purchasing and Ethics - Course Syllabus
1. Understand what governs purchasing decisions
2. Define common terms and processes used in purchasing
3. Why the role of purchasing is strategic
4. Learn how fund type might impact purchasing decisions
5. Discuss what functions are important to separate and how to build checks and balances
6. Understand the use of cooperative contracts
7. Identify when a contract may be necessary
8. What are common contract changes and why
9. Review special impacts to purchasing and best practices
10. Learn how to manage potential conflicts of interests and business ethics
